Sales catalogue from Panter and Company for the French ship Marquis de la Fayette which was captured by six British warships (HMS Endymion, Egmount, Suffolk, Grafton, Trident, and Bristol) while in passage to Boston. The catalogue provides a complete listing of the ship's cargo and its value.

This is a compilation of manuscript and printed items, with some extensive annotations by Parker on the published items. There are various editions of the "Army Register," or "Register of the Army of the U.S.," from 1813-1816, published both in Washington and Philadelphia, with Parker's corrections, additions, and manuscript versions appended. Some of the volumes contain printed regulations, orders, and laws, with his annotations, such as "An Act for Establishing Rules & Articles . . . of the Armies of the U.S." (Washington, 1808); General orders, 1815; U.S. War dept. Letter from the Secretary of war...relative to the...act fixing the military peace establishment... 1816; U.S. Congress. House. Military Committee. Report...1817; U.S. War dept. Letter from the acting Secretary of war...relative to a mutiny said to have taken place at Norfolk...1817. The contents of "U.S. Army Registers, Regulations, Orders, etc., 1801-1815" are listed as: strength of the army; distribution of the officers; commanders of regiments; number of officers authorized by law; strength of regiments; distribution of the army at the close of the war; strength of the army in 1817; a correct register of the army...at the close of the campaign of 1814; regulations, orders, registers, and reports to Congress; etc.

Jonathan Williams, a nephew of Benjamin Franklin, was chief of the Corps of Engineers, United States Army, and first superintendent of the United States Military Academy at West Point. The genealogical material was "compiled from family records and his own personal knowledge by his son," H.J. Williams.

These are miscellaneous documents relating to appointments, money acts, defense, etc., mostly addressed to Charles Spencer, Earl of Sunderland, Secretary of State for the Southern Department. Contain signatures of important Englishmen, among whom are: Wm.Blathwayt, Jas. Craggs. Mitford Crow, Dartmouth, Herbert, Sir P.Meadows, Wm. Popple, Jr., Matthew Prior, John Smith, Stamford, Sunderland,etc.

A company-level orderly book for the 9th Pennsylvania Infantry kept by Sgt. John McGriff under the command of Capt. Thomas Bartholomew Bowen. The orderly book details the activities of the regiment during the late fall, 1780, while stationed at Totoway, New Jersey.

Two bound documents, "A chronological series of facts relative to Louisiana" and "An examination into the boundaries of Louisiana." Prepared by Jefferson for U.S. ministers at Paris and Madrid, as a means of determining the extent of the Louisiana Purchase. Jefferson sent these to the APS with a cover letter to Peter S. Du Ponceau, dated December 30, 1817; read in the Historical and Literary Committee, 1818. Printed in Thomas Jefferson, Documents Relating to the Purchase and Exploration of Louisiana (New York, 1904).

These are letters to Thomas Clarke, Isaac Roberdeau, and Jonathan Williams, Jr., about the defense of Philadelphia against possible British attack.

Born May 26, 1750, to the niece of Benjamin Franklin, Jonathan Williams was a prominent merchant, scientist and soldier. Elected to the APS in 1787 as a result of his observations on temperature and barometrical readings, as well as work on sugar production, Williams had a distinguished military career highlighted by his appointment as first superintendent of the Military Academy at West Point. The Jonathan Williams Papers consists of 46 letters and documents, written by or to Jonathan Williams Sr. and Jr., dealing primarily with financial and legal matters. The collection includes five letters written by Benjamin Franklin and many of the others are signed by Williams' father-in-law and brother-in-law, William and Robert Alexander.

Captain William Scott (b.1752) was a company commander in the British 17th Regiment of Foot. He participated in many battles and campaigns during the American Revolutionary War, including the Philadelphia campaign. This three-page memorandum describes the events leading up to, and the conduct of, the Battle of Germantown, on October 4, 1777.

This volume contains two selections: the first are problems in geometry and trigonometry, and the second concerning fortifications and their layout. Note on fly-leaf says this volume was found in the Bastile.

This volume includes a journal of a campaign in Hungary (1737), and a diary (1738-1739) written in German.

Volume one includes an account of a voyage from England to St. Petersburg and of a journey from thence by Moscow through Poland to meet the Russian army. Plates consist chiefly of plans of battle fields. Volume one contains also List of expenses in the German language. A short index to various articles that are not in the volume. This account book contains receipts and expenditures for the Flying Camp (1783), and business accounts for purchases of bread and candles, and for expenses of traveling and lodging (1785-1800).

A brigade-level orderly book for the Pennsylvania Line of the Continental Army (including the 1st, 2nd, 7th and 10th Regiments), kept between October 1778-May 1779, while the brigade was encamped in Fredericksburg and Middlebrook, New Jersey. Includes detailed records of orders issued relating to the brigade, brigade discipline, courts-martial, and records of orders relating to sutlers and camp followers.

A Brigadier General in the Continental Army, George Weedon served under the immediate command of his fellow Virginian George Washington from, 1776 until 1778. This orderly book was kept under Weedon's command during the fall and winter, 1777-1778, documenting the hardships suffered by the American soldiers during their bitter encampment at Valley Forge.

This is a volume of extracts from provincial records copied by Thomas Sargeant when Secretary of the Commonwealth. Includes material on Indian affairs and French and Indian wars in Pennsylvania and the New England colonies.

Stephen Payne Adye, the Deputy Judge Advocate for the British Army in North America, wrote primarily to Sir Charles Gould, the Judge Advocate General in England, concerning British court martial proceedings in the Colonies, including references to the armed conflict in America. Also included are letters to John André, William Franklin and the Board of General Officers of the Army of Great Britain.

This is miscellaneous material relating to postal affairs, including Hazard's appointments in the service, and certificates of membership in various institutions. There are letters from Richard Bache, George Clinton, Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, Samuel Huntington, Thomas Jefferson, Timothy Matlack, Samuel Miller, George Washington, and others. One manuscript is endorsed, "My Covenant with the most high God," which is Hazard's reaffirmation of the vows made for him by his parents at the time of his baptism.
